About the author
Author Susan Love was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1969. At the age of five, she was rescued from a fire and placed in foster care for the remainder of her youth. As a child, she began writing her own adventure stories. Ms. Love also found comfort in music and played the violin from elementary school through high school. In addition, she was a gymnast and by her late teens mastered the sport of water skiing. She graduated from William Tennant High School in Warminster, PA in the top ten percent of her class.
In 1987, Ms. Love was accepted into Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA, one of the highest ranking liberal arts colleges in the nation for women. Her studies included education, psychology, and two minors in art and philosophy. While attending the university, Ms. Love excelled in drama and dance. The Drama Department classified her as a naturally talented actress. During her years at the university and also after graduation, she performed solo in dance shows.
Upon completing her degree, in 1992, Ms. Love became an intern juvenile probation officer, and was also employed with Human Services as a developmental specialist. Following these commitments, she served as supervisor for the after school childcare program at the YMCA in Allentown.
In 1998, Ms. Love received her Master's Degree in education from Arcadia College, Glenside PA. Upon passing The National Teacher's Exam, she was hired by The School District of Philadelphia. She has been a primary and middle school teacher for fifteen years, and has also worked as a professional model while training at Barbizon Modeling School in Philadelphia.
Although Ms. Love's life to date has encompassed a variety of career opportunities, she receives the most gratification from teaching. Her animated children's eBook, Ms. Love's Mystical Island Adventure was inspired by island stories her students wrote that included their teacher as one of the characters.
For the completion of this project, Ms. Love worked with a number of distinguished editors, including John Paine, Marlo Garnsworthy, Barbara McNichol, Eileen Heyes, and Carol Adler. She corresponded with Emma Walton Hamilton (Julie Andrew's Daughter) regarding copy editing issues. Complementing the text are illustrations and animations by world class artist, Patrick Harrington. As her eBook developer and distributor, Ms. Love chose KiteReaders, who have developed books for Walt Disney.
