Description

The Adventures of Pawfficer Moxie takes kids through a fictional account of real-world problems and helps them learn about the power of hope, healing, and resilience. Resilience is the ability to achieve positive outcomes – mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually – despite going through difficult and challenging experiences.

As a therapy cat for The Dragonfly House Children's Advocacy Center, Moxie sees the bad things kids go through and she believes in the hope that lives within children and the resiliency that can be created in them with just a little bit of love and understanding from others. Children deserve to live a life free from abuse, neglect, violence, and trauma. It is through her adventures that Moxie can help children understand their feelings and know that healing exists for them too.

In this first book of her series, Moxie is a tiny, lost kitten in need of a home and a family to love her. After being found without a mom or dad, she experiences the emotions of being alone and hears from others that she is broken and no one will want her. She learns from several loving people who help care for her along the way that there is hope in her future and that one day she will find a family and home to call her own.

Her story inspires others as she becomes an advocate for children who feel hurt, both on the inside and outside. From big problems like abuse, neglect, witnessing violence, and being in foster care to important lessons about learning who to talk to when bad things are happening to them, Moxie tells her story so kids will not feel alone and learn about hope and healing.

100% of the proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to The Dragonfly House Children's Advocacy Center, where Moxie donates her time as a therapy cat.

About the author

Brandi Reagan is the Executive Director of The Dragonfly House Children's Advocacy Center, a Nationally Accredited agency that provides services to boys and girls, ages birth through 17, who have experienced any form of abuse or neglect. She helped create the agency in 2009 and was named Executive Director in July 2012 when the agency became a 501c3 nonprofit. Brandi strongly believes in the mission of The Dragonfly House, helping others in the community understand the effects trauma has on children, and ensuring that children always find hope and healing, no matter what they have been through.

Brandi has been married for 20 years to Patrick Reagan, who is Chief of Police with the Mocksville Police Department, and they have two children – Sara, age 18, and Jonathan, age 16. The Reagan family resides in Mocksville, NC.

In the summer of 2019 Brandi and her family (which also included 3 dogs and a cat at the time) made the decision to adopt a kitten with "different abilities" who needed a forever home. Moxie, named after their hometown of Mocksville, is an example of how it only takes ONE PERSON to make a difference in your life.
