About the author
Cheyenne Bryant is an experienced Life Coach. For years she has shared her wisdom, awareness, and insight through lectures and assisting individuals with life impairments and challenges. Cheyenne embarked on a similar journey as the one you are undertaking, and that is what led her to the desire to become a Doctor of Psychology and a Spiritual Life Coach. She attended Cal State University of Northridge at the age of 17. While there, she obtained a double degree in Psychology and Pan African studies. However, she still had not yet realize what had triggered her interest in the field of psychology until she entered the Master’s Program at University of Phoenix. She was about halfway through her Master’s and boom! It hit her! She had A LOT of healing that needed to be done. Her desire for self-fulfillment, healing, peace, and balance within herself drew her to the field of psychology. It wasn’t until she began healing others, that she began to heal herself. You see, healing is transparent. God works through transparency. What God moves through you, he gives to you!
Cheyenne worked as a psychotherapist intern while completing her Masters Program. During this time she received a client that had experienced sexual abuse at a very intense level. There were times when the client would weep while telling her the many stories of her rape experiences. Cheyenne would ask permission to support her by placing her hand on her back or shoulder, and she would tense up and reply, “No, please don’t touch me.”
During one session, this client began to describe how she felt after the sexual abuse –dirty, embarrassed, victimized, shamed, guilty, disgusted, and violated. Cheyenne found herself chiming in and taking the words right out of her mouth. The session with this young lady triggered emotions in her regarding her own sexual abuse experience. She quickly checked her emotions and allowed the client to finish expressing herself. By that time, she had figured out that Cheyenne too had experienced similar circumstances. From that point on there was an unspoken connection between the client and Cheyenne.
Following the session, Cheyenne checked in with her supervisor and therapist colleagues. She explained the triggers and counter-transference she felt during the session and shared her sexual abuse story with them. The supervisor asked if she wanted to transfer the client to another therapist and she said, “No, I can handle it.” God makes no mistakes! I believe that God assigns people to each other to enable their growth. There is NO such thing as a coincidence. That client and I were assigned to one another to heal, as we both needed healing in the same area. It was a clear example of the Law of Attraction in action. And we did just that; we healed simultaneously.
Cheyenne's approach is based on several core beliefs. The first is that we create our own circumstances. She believe's in the Law of Attraction, and that everything is learned behavior – therefore we can unlearn anything that is not serving our highest purpose. In short, we are more powerful than we can ever imagine! We can learn to cultivate our lives like a garden, choosing what to plant and grow, and what to remove. Although we may have suffered greatly as children, we are no longer victims of the past. Today we can move beyond mere survival, and embrace our ability to thrive. Cheyenne is not religious, but spiritual. She does not believe in bad or good; She believe's things just are. Cheyenne does not believe any one individual is inferior or superior to another, as we all are on our OWN journey and are perfect just as we are. She believes it is important for people to stand in their authentic self and personal power, because their true essence in its rawest form is love. Love is the most powerful force that heals and balances all. This is why people are PERFECT just as they are!
