About the author
Mark Ubbens, CRNP, is the founder of Maryland Camp Health, LLC. Mark has spent more than 13 years in camp health in Maryland. He has experience as a Maryland State Department of Education Office of Early Childhood Care Medication Administration Training Instructor, Maryland Board of Nursing Certified Medication Technician-School Health Instructor and Delegating Nurse, and hosts an approved Maryland Department of Health Youth Camp Medication Administration Training Course. In addition to his work in camp health, Mark is the Chief of Advanced Practice in the Department of Trauma Surgery at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. He works as a Ski Patroller at Big Boulder Ski Patrol in Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania. He has served in numerous positions as camp health supervisor for several youth camps in Maryland. In 2022, Mark testified in the Maryland House and Senate advocating for modification of the Emergency Allergy Treatment Program for Youth Camps. He advocated for allowing Nurse Practitioners to prescribe epinephrine auto-injectors to youth camps. The bills were passed with bipartisan support.
