Many moons is a collection of photographs from the photo series by Breana Janae Parks, as well as a collection of writings they wrote in the making of the work.

Many moons is Bréana Janae Parks' internal discovery of the matriarchs in her family. The photographer and mixed media artist crafted a quilt to unpack the inherited female trauma passed down to them through their mothers and her grandmothers. This was done through collecting the garments of the matriarchs, from wedding dresses, church dresses, nightgowns, and prom dresses. All of these fabrics are woven into the shape resembling a womb.

About the author
Breana Parks is a Afro-Filipinx Photographer born and raised in California. Started doing photography in 2014, studied at UCSD in Visual Arts, Media Emphasis in Photography, and minored in Ethnic Studies. Much of their work tackles social issues, identity, and history.
