This is a children's book for all ages! It is a story told in "Pidgin English" about a fictional character named "Manny Dah Mongoose" who is the Fastest Mongoose in Town. The story is set in Hawaii and in the end, teaches some valuable lessons to children of all ages.
"Manny Dah Mongoose .......... Fastest Mongoose in Town!" is derived from a song I wrote a few years ago. After performing the song/story many times, I kept having people tell me that the story would make a great children's book. Having recently come across some cartoons I once sketched about Manny Dah Mongoose, I finally got off my "Okole" (My Bottom!) and decided to give it a try. "Manny Dah Mongoose" is a story written and performed in "Pidgin English" which is the street language of people in the Hawaiian Islands. "Pidgin" is a simplified version of the English language often augmented by features from other languages prevalent in Hawaii. I have also recorded a version of me singing/speaking the story with a Slack Key guitar in the background.
About the author
My name is Roger Kurt and my nickname is "The Bass Man." This is because God has blessed me with one of the Lowest speaking and singing voices you might ever hear! My "day job" is with the Hawaii Department of Education as a "School Social Worker." I have also performed as a singer with various vocal groups and I have now recorded four CDs of my own. Even though I recently turned 58 years old .............. I still, and will always be a "Kid at Heart !!!!"
