Losing Plum Blossom

A war widow comes to Taiwan to visit the last place her husband lived before he was shot down over China. While in Taiwan Clarissa falls in love with the half Taiwanese, half Japanese doctor, Ahmed,who is involved in the Chinese-Taiwanese-Japanese spy network. Being from Kansas, Clarissa is unable to extricate herself until a handsome CIA agent rescues her.

The doctor's dream is to return to Japan and marry Plum Blossom, but his hopes had been crushed early on due to his half caste status. Ahmed's general father,head of the Japanese prisoner of war camp in Taiwan, was arrested as a war criminal when he returned to Japan at the end of the war,making Ahmed's return to Japan more problematic than ever. . Finally Ahmed decides to accept Clarissa's love and make a life for the both of them in Taiwan.

Born in Lancaster PA, graduated from public schools, Harvard College and University of Toronto, I have lived and worked in Taiwan for 25 years where I have been able to travel to China, other parts of East Asia Japan and India. fascinated all my life with Chinese culture, I have been able to write on this subject in mant different ways; novels, poetry, social science. archaeology and ancient Chinese science.
