Leave Not a Trace Grace

An Adirondack Fairy’s Tale

By Kelly Arnold and Donna Sloan

Overview

Leave Not a Trace Grace is the story of a woodland fairy who takes stewardship of the Adirondack Mountains very seriously. She flutters throughout the mountains reminding hikers, campers, and mountain climbers to leave not a trace by bringing out whatever they bring into the woods. The book is a cautionary, educational tale told in rhyme with sensational photographs taken on and around Whiteface Mountain, with drawings by Kelly superimposed on the photographs…a unique form of illustrating, sure to delight all.

Description

Leave Not a Trace Grace is a delightful book for young and old, especially when shared and read aloud. The story is told in rhyme and the illustrations are a combination of photographs and drawings. The story takes place in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State and through the teachings of a tiny woodland fairy named Grace the reader will be reminded of how to care for our natural resources and not spoil our environment. She teaches those who she encounters to "leave not a trace" as they hike or camp in the Adirondack Mountains. The book's dedication explains why the book was written and how the character of Grace came to be.…for the three Graces.
