Lack of Restraint

Detective Ryan Jones is trying to put his life back together after the brutal conclusion of his last serial murder case. Two years later he continues to be lauded as a hero for saving the governor's niece and stopping the senseless hunting and murder of children. Now living a peaceful life detective Jones is suddenly being taunted by a copycat killer set on revenge. As detective Jones hunts for the killer he realizes this copycat knows details about the previous murders that were never released to the public and only someone with ties to the original case could be involved. No longer sure who he can trust leaves detective Jones questioning everything including his own mental stability and keeps him second guessing every clue as well as his ability to show restraint and bring this killer to justice.

Two years after walking out of the glass butterfly killers lair, detective Jones still has nightmares of what he did to the serial killer. Torturing his mental stability almost as much as the physical torture he inflicted on the killer in order to save the niece of the Governor.  Detective Jones is now seeking solace for his actions as he has relocated to a quite suburb of Austin and trying to rebuild his life. As things slowly start to return to normal a supposed copycat killer begins to hunt and murder innocent children, seemingly taunting detective Jones every step of the way.

As Detective Jones is forced back into the fray, he begins to question his ability to bring this killer to justice or if he will once again show his lack of restraint and seek vigilante justice for the innocent victims. Detective Jones continues to be lauded as a hero for saving the niece of the governor. He is used by the media and the highest political office in the state as the poster boy for justice. His internal struggles against the brutal methods he used to save Lizzy from her captor kept secret, Jones no longer knows who he can trust, including his own mental stability. With the Governor seeking a run for the White House, he uses his power to draw Jones back into the hunt to bring this copycat to justice, but detective Jones soon discovers that there just might be more to the governor's involvement than what meets the eye. 

Chris Adams was recruited into clandestine services, in the 1990's and after 25 years of service, he’s not allowed to acknowledge the actual nature of his service or even mention the name of the agency where he was employed. Receiving multiple accommodations for his service, many of which are so deeply classified the actual awards remain locked inside the White House. Almost all of the missions Chris was involved with during his career weren’t allowed to even be documented, for fear of retribution by US Allies should they become aware of the missions he was sanctioned by the Government to undertake.

Spending his entire career traveling the world, Chris now enjoys retirement surfing the waves and relaxing on the beach of his private island in the South Pacific.

In an alternate reality, Chris is a mystery writer and lives with his wife and three children in Round Rock, Texas.
