Overview
Anna is big on collecting things: grudges, recyclable bottles and palindromes (words spelled the same forward and back). She also has a dark secret hidden in her sock drawer. And when she finds a mysterious kayak, her ordinary summer becomes a tangled, tentacled adventure. She discovers a pipe oozing chemicals into her beloved creek and vows to fight the polluters with her friend, Xander. But a bully, bloodsucking leeches and something lurking beneath the bridge are trying to thwart her. And then her dog disappears. Caught in a whirlpool, Anna spins into a strange kingdom and learns about forgiveness, environmental activism and the finer points of troll etiquette. But can she find her Whippet and stop the pollution in time to save the creatures of Keer Creek? Come and see! A discussion and activity guide is included for classroom use. Sales of this book help provide clean, safe drinking water for children around the world.
