Kat with a K

By Isaac Johnson

Overview

After going through several traumatic experiences, Kat escaped from her mental jail. Love and hate in equal measures were the driving forces to get her to take action. That was exactly what Kat did when she was blackmailed into stealing the two most secured diamonds in the world. The going was tough and no sacrifice was out of reach. Nearly blind and socially awkward made her use her irresistible weapons. She was not all brains and body. She was a kitten with claws.

Description

Intelligent savant, socially awkward, and 100% ugly up to a certain age. Kat was certain her life wasn't destined for greatness. From a young age, she started a career in crime with her parents; she hardly ever attended school, and she was dirty most of the time. Kat was considered an ugly specimen by the rest of humanity, and the only thing that kept her out of jail was her age. Her life was propelling towards the ground until Tia saved her from the streets. Tia cleaned her up, got her healthy, and even brought her to get her own glasses—which is where she discovered Kat's photographic memory. Her skill at remembering anything placed her on an accelerated learning path, and by the age of fifteen, Kat was on track to graduate from high school. However, before her final exam, a mental breakdown and severe phobia of men caused her to go into a hyperventilating fit. Her past was catching up to her, and mixed with her shyness, her socially awkward personality, and how gullible she truly was, she wasn't sure what her future looked like. At eighteen, due to her amazing mid-year grades, Kat got to attend Birkdale University on half a scholarship. To make up her other tuition, Kat would often tutor her friends in applied math. But this only covered her tuition, leaving her without the proper funds to buy food or supplies for herself. So when her favorite professor, Professor Max, asked for her help with 'stealth' technology, she took it. Her participation, however, ended up with her becoming blackmailed into stealing two of the most secure diamonds in the world. With no other options, Kat had no choice but to come up with a plan that would successfully get her the diamonds and get her out safely. To her, no sacrifice was out of reach; all she needed to do was get her mission complete, and as a nearly blind and naturally socially awkward woman, Kat was perfectly crafted into an irresistible weapon. She was not just brains and body; she was a kitten with claws.

About The Author

Isaac Marais, aka Saki, has been a teacher all his life in places such as South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia. He has taught a wide variety of subjects, which include math, physics, chemistry, woodworking, and metalworking. He was also always involved with school sports, which is a huge inspiration for the characters within his books. Another inspiration comes from his extensive travel throughout Europe, as it combines his love for history with geography and math. Coming from a desert region, Isaac considers himself to be a vivid storyteller—or professional liar—as he would often write multiple essays a week while he was in school: three in English and three in Afrikaans. It was within those essays that he would let the wings of his imagination fly. He was challenged to write a book by another author while at a barbecue party when he dared to say, "It was easy to write books. You just sit down and type." Shocked by his ignorance, she immediately challenged him to write his own book. Together, they thought of a difficult topic to write about and agreed it must be written in English, since that is Isaac's weakest language. So, at the age of seventy-four, Isaac sat down and wrote "Kat with a K."
