Overview
Collection of 24 Advent devotionals leading up to Christmas Eve, each section composed of one scriptural word with personal reflection by the author and reflection questions for individual or group study
Description
"Just One Word" takes you through the 24 days leading up to Christmas with devotionals based on a single word from scripture that will enliven your steps as you make the Advent trek to the Manger. “A Personal Word” follows each devotional with a story from the author’s life, written in Mark’s trademark performing and preaching style of wit, wisdom and personal transparency about life’s lessons. “Reflecting on the Word” poses questions related to the devotional—perfect for individual or group study.
About the author
Rev. Mark Winter, an Oklahoma native living in Texas, is a fulltime evangelist whose ministry travels have taken him to Washington D.C., Mexico and 25 states from Arizona to New York. In addition to revival preaching, he performs dramatic monologues, speaks to youth and ministers to children through illusions. Mark received his call into ordained ministry in 1983. Shortly after, he enrolled at Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where he earned his Masters of Divinity degree. For 15 years, Mark served as a pastor in United Methodist churches in north Texas before he launched his One Man Show Ministries in 1999. His ministry website can be found at www.onemanshow.org. A writer since high school days, he earned his journalism degree at the University of Oklahoma, where his first full-length article was published by The Sunday Oklahoman when he was 21. Since then, his pieces have appeared in the Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Christian Single, Stand Firm, Living Solo, The Upper Room and many others. In 2001, Mark’s devotional book, "If There Is No God," was published by Cook Communications. Laura, Mark’s wife, works for Operation Christmas Child, the “shoebox ministry” of Samaritan’s Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org/occ). Married since 1982, they are the proud parents of three children: Paul, Sam and Abby.
