About The Author

Susanne's lifelong fascination with the natural world began in the fields and forest preserves of the Midwest. A native of the Chicago suburbs, her early inspiration included developing a kinship with a red-winged blackbird and writing her first illustrated book of nature poems at the age of eight. That joy was re-ignited years later while hiking the trails of the Pacific Northwest. An unforgettable encounter with a bright yellow banana slug sparked her curiosity and inspired her to share those moments with young readers. Today, Susanne continues to wander the lush forests of the Pacific Northwest, capturing the sights, sounds, and stories the creatures have to share. These adventures led to the creation of Joy Stories, her series of children's adventure books for ages 3–8.
