Living next door is a man who owns a large dog. Each page has an adventure in which Sparky seems to have no problems with the situation but the big dog usually has problems. The breed Sparky represents is a Norwich Terrier and the large dog represents a Bernese Mountain Dog. Even though the big dog usually gets in trouble, there are several pages where he is also "Okay".

About The Author


Dr. Douglas Coatney practiced veterinary medicine in Centerville, Ohio for 40 years. Prior to that he attended The Ohio State University and graduated from their College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Coatney then served two years in the US Army Veterinary Corps. It's Okay to be Small is Dr. Coatney's first book and it reflects his deep love for animals. He has four children, two are veterinarians, and eight grandchildren, two of them are studying veterinary medicine. Dr. Coatney still resides in Centerville with his wife, Elaine.
