The information Islam presented here is concise and simplified. It will provide an overview of the religion, easy to understand even to those who are unfamiliar with it.

Many of the books that attempt to present Islam to non-Muslims provide details and foreign terminology that is distracting and confusing. In the following 66 pages, a comprehensive and concise presentation is provided with minimum use of Arabic and foreign unfamiliar terminology. It is kept in mind that the reader belongs to the west. Common values shared by Christianity and Judaism are presented. Differences are also mentioned. The Islamic concept of monotheism of God is emphasized. The Holy Scripture, the Qur’an and some scientific facts contained therein are also presented. It is author’s hope that this concise presentation will cause the reader to undertake a deeper study of the religion of Islam.

Dr. Syed Hasan Akhtar is a retired cardiologist. He was born in India and has been living in the United States for many years. His current residence is in Austin, Texas. He has a longstanding interest in religions, and has opportunity to interact with other religions in interfaith setting.
