About the author
Susan Cochran grew up in the San Fernando Valley. She holds a B.A. in English from San Diego State University and an English Teaching Credential from San Jose State University. While working in administration at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Ms. Cochran expressed her creative passions through quilt art and painting. While there, she had a solo quilt show at the Women’s Center and displayed her paintings and quilts in the Department of Women’s Studies. After the death of her husband, Ms. Cochran turned to journaling, poetry and photography. She received the first place prize for the 2013 Robert J. Emmons Poetry Competition and completed the Creative Writing Certificate Program at Santa Barbara City College. Her short memoir story, Aztec Street, was published in the Thoreau’s Rooster, Assumption College. Her poetry has been used to help those healing from loss.
