I moved my husband back to Illinois in 2017, as he was born and raised in the southern part of the state. I was told that there's a much better recollection of earlier memories with people going through dementia, but I didn't realize how a move, any move, would affect his living pattern and his continual agitation on the trip back. Our journey through dementia created so many obstacles, there were times I felt like running away. But I didn't. The use of poetry helped me through this time period.
