Description

Winner of a 2016 Illumination Book Award!

"It took me forty-five years to realize that I'd been raised by a saint. But as I look back, I can see that there were signs along the way." Thus begins Jessica Roemischer's inspirational memoir. The reader is introduced to Flora who, against all odds, finds her way from a tiny Ecuadorian village to the tree-lined suburbs of New York. There, Flora enters the young life of the author and the tragedy that's unfolding. In Duet with God is the tale of Flora’s love, and the awakening of the heart this remarkable person inspired. In Duet with God is a spiritual book with a Christian orientation, and yet one that appeals to readers of all backgrounds. The relationship between the author and her beloved friend, Flora, is universal. In Duet with God speaks to the essence of what makes us human, and thus, what makes us one. With its simple, descriptive phrases and striking authenticity, In Duet with God is a tale of redemption and remembrance. The author’s words evoke the reader's own story, triggering memories of the blessings one has known, but perhaps forgotten.
