Description
"Idyllwild Wildfire Photo Chronicles" transports readers to July 15, 2013, when the Mountain Fire sparked near Idyllwild, CA, amidst a severe drought, high temperatures, and winds. This powerful book, by esteemed photographer Jenny Kirchner, paints a vivid picture of the wildfire that led to the evacuation of Idyllwild and surrounding communities. Kirchner, a long-time resident of the area, stayed behind to document the fire's onslaught and the courageous efforts of the first responders fighting to save their communities. Through her lens, Kirchner captures the raw emotions, dramatic scenes, and the indomitable spirit of the community in the face of adversity. This book isn't just a photographic chronicle; it's a testament to resilience and courage, shedding light on the fragile balance between humans and nature. A decade after the fire, Kirchner offers this intense photographic narrative as a reminder of the catastrophe and a tribute to those who risked everything to combat it.
