Description

You don't have to look hard at Tahiya before you notice the grotesque scar across her neck. She crouched between an angry man and his revenge hoping for peace. But, peace evaporated with the last drop of rain that year. Grace Weather has written a novel set in Sub-Saharan Africa. This family drama is about a girl driven by her desire to get back what she once had. Pressured by the unrelenting expectations of her people, frustrated by the constant fighting with her brother, Tahiya takes risks. Risks with serious consequences.

About The Author

I have always enjoyed stories about real people. Stories in newspapers, short biographies, publications like National Geographic were eye-opening to me. Our world is full of amazing people, each with a unique story that resonates across cultures. Since I enjoy real life stories so much, I write contemporary family drama. Stories about people born and raised outside their cultural heritage. People like me who navigate the complications that come with this extraordinary experience. The meat of good drama is conflict, problems and difficulties in life. This can be depressing. People don't want to read about their problems - I don't. But, a narrative sprinkled with optimism encourages me. So I reimagine the stories I have heard, seen and experienced. My hope is that these fictionalised life experiences will entertain and start conversations.
