Description

"How to Speak with a Kitty: Comment Parler avec un Minou" guides young readers in understanding the mysterious yet charming language of cats! This delightful, bilingual children's book—written in English and Français—is an immersive experience with rhymes, a dash of French, and sweet hand-drawn renderings of cats that emphasize the magic in their eyes. These hand-drawn depictions make the kitties feel alive and relatable. This book flows naturally from her first book, "How to Pet a Kitty," as author and illustrator Stacy Alexander once again captures the whimsical, delightful nature of kitties and encourages young readers to savor the message in each kitty's expression. Most of the drawings in this book are friends' cats, and each rendering depicts their name. You will see that each precious kitty has its own personality and its own special message for the reader. Before the story's end, you might just choose a favorite kitty—and you'll certainly enjoy discovering the wonderful language of cats!

About The Author

Stacy Alexander is a non-practicing attorney, mediator, and former adjunct law professor and resides primarily in Austin, Texas. She is currently a clinical researcher at a forensic psychology firm based in San Diego, California. She started drawing cats in December 2020 while recovering from a head injury. During her recovery, she benefited immensely from the affection of her two kitties, Snowflake and Sable, who inspired her first book, "How to Pet a Kitty: Comment Câliner un Chat," as well as her new book, "How to Speak with a Kitty: Comment Parler avec un Minou." She is passionate about caring for and understanding cats, and her books are designed to enlighten young readers about the mysteries surrounding cats and their behaviors. A portion of all her proceeds goes to support EveryCat Health Foundation, the world's largest source of nonprofit funding for feline research grants. Her books are bilingual in English and French because she and her husband reside part-time in Quebec City and enjoy learning French.
