Overview
Learn how to harness your demons and make them work for you. And by demons, we're not talking about the boogey man here but the prisons of our conditioning: repressed memories, suppressed emotions, traumas, complexes, low self-worth, and the inner critic to name but a few. In this book, technology executive and seasoned Vipassana practitioner T.J. Connolly reframes the core principles of Buddhist psychology through disciplines as diverse as modern dance, artificial intelligence, anthropology, neuroscience, mythology and more. If you don't want to read about obscure or lofty spiritual concepts, but want practical, proven ways to deal with that subconscious stuff holding you back, self-sabotaging sure successes, and forever pushing that elusive state of 'happiness' around the corner, then the next - this book is for you.
Description
Learn how to harness your demons and make them work for you. And by demons, we're not talking about the boogey man here but the prisons of our conditioning: repressed memories, suppressed emotions, traumas, complexes, low self-worth, and the inner critic to name but a few. How to Hunt Demons reframes the ancient Buddhist practice of Vipassana into a suite of simple techniques for harnessing your demons and making them work for you. Explained through the lens of a wide range of domains - from multi-metaphoric myths to modern dance, and zombie fungus to artificial intelligence – tech executive and seasoned Vipassana practitioner T.J. Connolly shows, in very practical ways, how we to exploit pain's presence in our lives by delving deep into the rich vein of fear that envelops it. If you don't want to read about obscure or lofty spiritual concepts, but want practical, proven ways to deal with all the subconscious stuff that's holding you back, self-sabotaging sure successes, and forever pushing that elusive state of 'happiness' around the corner, then the next - this book is for you.
About the author
T.J. Connolly started practicing Vipassana after suffering for over ten years with chronic insomnia (and trying almost every modality to treat it). Within 3 days, his insomnia vanished. He has since spent over 3,000 hours on the mat, and watched in awe as the ancient Buddhist meditation technique transformed every aspect of his life, from personal relationships to career success in the fast-paced world of cybersecurity. T.J. has studied thousands of books, papers, studies and writings from some of history's greatest sages, psychologists, researchers and philosophers in order to understand how such a simple practice can fast-track the innate human capacity to heal, develop, and transform. Compelled to share what he discovered with others, he has distilled this knowledge into a framework of traits and techniques. You can read all about them in his first book, "How to Hunt Demons".
