Overview
Part missionary memoir, part devotional, this is a true story of God’s faithfulness to missionaries Charles and Yoke Fong Harvey as they serve as "Dad and Mum" to children and young adults at risk of labor and sexual exploitation in Northeast Thailand. With humor and transparency, Charles shares the lessons learned in a life filled with hard work and sacrifices, fulfilling relationships, heartbreaking betrayals, and joyful victories—all to the glory of God in a predominantly Buddhist nation.
Description
Called by God and filled with compassion for the plight of exploited girls in Thailand, Charles and Yoke Fong Harvey became “Dad and Mum” to eight girls in a renovated pig barn in Northeast Thailand in 1996. Now Grace Ministries is home to more than 70 at-risk girls and boys, young women and men. Part missionary memoir, part devotional, this is a true story of God’s faithfulness to His servants as they love the poor in a predominantly Buddhist country. With humor and transparency, Charles shares the lessons learned in a life filled with hard work and sacrifices, fulfilling relationships, heartbreaking betrayals, and joyful victories—all to the glory of God.
About the author
Born on St. Patrick’s Day in 1955, in Castlerea, Ireland, Charles Harvey served in the Irish Army for 17 years, a time in which he gave his life to Jesus Christ and began to form a personal relationship with His Father. In 1990, God called Charles out of the Irish Army to serve as a missionary in Northeast Thailand. Since 1993, he and his wife, Yoke Fong, have been the co-directors of Grace Ministries in Krasang, Thailand, a home for boys and girls who are at risk of sexual and labor exploitation. At Grace Ministries, first-graders through college students are nurtured and loved in Jesus’ name while attending the local public schools.
