The story of Ted and his friend, Coco, was inspired by a real Mississippi map turtle and his miniature poodle buddy.

Sharlie Byrd is a native of South Carolina where she spent her childhood. She now lives in Mississippi with her tortoiseshell cat, Lily Tori. This story is based on a real Mississippi map turtle and a pet miniature poodle named Coco. Sharlie wishes to say a special thank you to her son, Trey. Without his inspiration and encouragement, this book would not exist.
