About the author
Yana Hempler is a certified personal trainer, running coach, fitness blogger and long distance runner. Yana went from being that girl that people told to stay away from sports because she wasn't good, was made fun of and that was picked last in gym class to becoming the NWASAA zone champion and competing at the Provincial level in Track & Field and Badminton, ultimately becoming the Female Athlete of the Year in grade 12.
Her story doesn't end there, however.
Right after graduating high school she got a pretty bad foot injury that prevented her from doing what she loves-running-for almost 3 years. She could not try out for the university cross country team because of that injury. Yana gained weight and felt lost, useless and very sad and was on the verge of depression.
After about 3 years of contemplating, she got a job at a gym which came with the bonus of a free membership.
Yana began to workout again doing a combination of longer cardio sessions on the AMT and weights to build up endurance and strength. Then, she got on the treadmill and started to gradually build up speed and the length of time she ran. She was like "Wow! I'm running again! This is amazing!"
It was then that she decided to fulfil her lifelong dream of becoming a personal trainer.
To date, she has done multiple 5k, 10k , half marathon and marathon races frequently placing top 5 in her age category. Not only that, but she has also competed in a fitness competition. Yana has been able to improve her own 10k time from 1 hour and 30 minutes to sub-41 minutes.
Yana has helped her clients significantly improve their race times, get leaner and get stronger. Some of her clients have seen 21 minute improvements in their 10k times, 5-10 minute improvements in their 5k times and 40 minute improvements in their marathons.
