Overview
Five children have been brought together to work in a traveling circus and are about to discover that learning how to walk a tightrope hundreds of feet in the air, teaching an elephant to balance on a ball, and sawing a woman in half is the least interesting part of their day. Sydney, Carlos, Augustus, Annie and Nathaniel have three things in common. They are all orphans with no recollection of their family or where they come from; they were each found and brought together by Thelonius Drake, Ringmaster of the traveling Drake Circus, and finally, each has a very special gift.
Description
Five children have been brought together to work in a traveling circus and are about to discover that learning how to walk a tightrope hundreds of feet in the air, teaching an elephant to balance on a ball, and sawing a woman in half is the least interesting part of their day. Sydney, Carlos, Augustus, Annie and Nathaniel have three things in common. They are all orphans with no recollection of their family or where they come from; they were each found and brought together by Thelonius Drake, Ringmaster of the traveling Drake Circus, and finally, each has a very special gift. Sydney has the ability to foresee the future when she touches certain people. Unfortunately for Sydney although the visions are extremely vivid while she is touching the individual, she has no recollection of the vision once contact is broken. Carlos is an acrobat in the circus and has the power to move things with his mind. Sometimes. Augustus is the magician’s assistant who might actually be able to make things disappear. Annie is the animal trainers’ assistant who has discovered that she can talk to animals. Finally there is the youngest of the group, Nathaniel who is a “clown in training” (currently with limited juggling abilities). Nat is the linchpin of the entire group in that his ability is to decipher the gibberish Sydney spouts when she has made contact with a subject. The kids’ abilities may not always work, they don’t always like each other and they’re not sure why it is that they have been given such amazing abilities, but they do know that they must find the answers they are looking for themselves. Through trials and triumphs, failures and successes they will discover things about themselves, the world around them, and most importantly that sometimes family is not just the people you are related to by blood.
