Family life is chronicled through the chapters, following the children from grade school (where paternal secrets are revealed) through graduation, until finally finding their places in the world. The sudden death of a main character brings pain and grief to both families. While mourning the loss of their loved one, memories and stories are shared, bringing all those gathered to both laughter and tears. Esther's sheltered life is shattered, but the consequences expose her to a new world, one that is possessed by a horse and a cowboy with coal-black eyes. The unexpected news that Kelly's assailant may get paroled creates a living nightmare. But can she triumph over those dark memories, or will that evil specter again dominate her dreams? Finally, the birth of a child is met with joy as another life ends. This is the culmination of years of writing with my fountain pen on legal-sized paper. But is it really the end?
