Have You Ever Seen?
by Jacqueline "MAX" Zarro

Overview

"Have You Ever Seen?" is a laugh riot that'll please many young readers! Have You Ever Seen? With "Max" the Mole asks children questions that center around silly and impossible scenarios. There were so many ridiculously funny questions and images.

Jacqueline "MAX" Zarro (writer) and Ron Zarro's (writer and illustrator) imaginations will have children giggling nonstop. Even adults will be smiling at the creative artwork and silliness of the writings.

In the final moments, Have You Ever Seen? With "Max" the Mole prompts readers to share outlandish scenarios they've seen. I bet children will come up with exciting and hilarious combinations.

Amazon has the set recommended reading age of six to eight years, but anyone from pre-k to fifth grade will find this book highly entertaining. -  Kameron Brooks - 5 STARS

"Have You Ever Seen?" follows Max the Mole as he runs into animals, vegetables, bugs, fish, and even a flower while performing unlikely tasks that you never have seen before.

Great teamwork between Ron and Jacqueline Zarro has resulted in Have You Ever Seen? It asks amusing questions such as whether you have seen “a bunny with lots of money?” or “a skunk hiding in a steamer trunk?” Well, you will in this silly and imaginative list because that’s what it is; a list of have you seen(s). Lists don’t always work in a picture book, but in this case, I’m not sure of any other way to get the same effect.

The text on each page acts as a caption. Name a critter and there’s a good chance you’ll see it represented on one of the pages. Have you ever seen a flower taking a shower? Although a delightful illustration by itself, you would have no idea what was going on without the text. Then there’s Max the quirky mole, found in every scene. This is a book that will be picked up time after time to see what you have missed in the illustrations.

In a recent conversation, an author and I were debating the recent lack of picture books written to simply entertain a child. I contended that any good picture book always contains some sort of message, even if not intended. Have You Ever Seen? proves my point. I don’t get the impression that Ron and Jacqueline Zarro set out to preach. Instead, you can feel the fun they must have had while creating this book, but we get the message. Lots of them, although this book is also pure entertainment.
