Harmony: A New Look

This book will interest musicians, teachers, students and musical amateurs as a free-standing booklet or as a supplement to more extensive theory books. It is in the tradition of the influential book by Richard Franko Goldman, Harmony in Western Music (1965), in which he writes, "the conventional harmony book is aimed in the wrong direction; its end is too often the properly completed exercise rather than the understanding of principles." In contrast, "Harmony: A New Look" reverses the usual orientation of the circle-of-fifths' clock-face diagram and explains the many ways chord progression influences classical harmony.
