He is the former editor of Gig magazine, and a veteran contributor to Guitar Player and Bass Player magazines. He’s interviewed everyone from Jack White (White Stripes) to Bootsy Collins (James Brown, P-Funk). Collins provided the forward Leslie’s first work of fiction. The Guitarfish Music Festival kicked off in September of 2011 with 30 bands playing over three days at luscious Cisco Grove Campground, and it celebrated the publication debut of Guitarfish Adventures Volume 1.0: Blue Is The New Green. The Guitarfish Music Festival took its family friendly vibe and environmental theme from the book, making it the first “blue” music festival. Cap'n Less is the pen name of Jimmy Leslie is the former editor of Gig magazine, and he became a regular contributor to Guitar Player and Bass Player magazines in 2002. He’s interviewed everyone from Jack White to Bootsy Collins, who wrote the forward for his first work of fiction, Guitarfish Adventures Volume 1.0: Blues Is the New Green. It's an eco-musical epic for kids that combines Leslie's love of marine life with his passion for music. Leslie is a singer, songwriter, guitar player and guitar teacher. He was born in Toledo, OH, and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1998. Several of the songs included in Guitarfish Adventures are excerpted from his 2007 solo effort Surfin’ the Swamp. Guitar Player formed a music label in 2011, and released Leslie’s bluesy CD, Dance Until Forever.
