Growing Up West Texas

This chapbook of poems, prose poems, and short stories is the work of first-time author, Shivaun M. Nestor. It was inspired by her adventures growing up in El Paso, Texas and by her family and her childhood friends.

This chapbook of poems, prose poems, and short stories, is the work of first-time author, Shivaun M. Nestor. It was inspired by her adventures growing up in El Paso, Texas and by her family and her childhood friends.

Shivaun M. Nestor retired from the San Francisco Department of Public Health in 2021. Devoted to reproductive health and justice, she served as a trainer and then director for the department's Family Planning Program. Since retiring, she has spent long hours at her computer writing and has recently started submitting her work to journals for publication. Growing Up West Texas is her first (self) published work. The poems, prose poems, and short stories contained in this chapbook were inspired by her adventures growing up in El Paso, Texas and by her family and her childhood friends.
