Overview
Some of the best times we had as a family, when our children were growing up, was having a daily devotional time after supper. We would generally read a portion of the Bible, read Christian adventure books, and pray for our current prayer requests. During those years I wished I had an easy-to-use devotional book on key Bible passages. This need was part of the motivation for writing this book, "Good News for the Family - 100 Devotionals from the Gospel of Luke," as a follow-up to the award-winning book of the same format on the book of Proverbs. As the title states, the book contains one hundred devotionals based on verses from each chapter of the gospel of Luke. One unique bonus is that after each devotional there are three questions WITH ANSWERS. This feature can be a great help to parents--especially those who are afraid their children will ask them some questions to which they don't have the answers. This book is intended to be "family friendly" and makes a great supplement to God's Word, the Bible.
Description
Leading a time of family devotions can often be intimidating for parents. What if your children ask questions that dad and mom can't answer? Here is a book that can help--one hundred captivating devotionals from the gospel of Luke, with questions AND ANSWERS with each devotional. As an extra help there is a Glossary at the back of the book with simplified explanations of forty terms mentioned in Luke i.e. Sadducee and denarius. This gospel book written by the Beloved Physician, Dr. Luke, has been called the most beautifully written account of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. It begins with the angel's announcement to Mary that she will give birth to the incarnate Son of God, and ends with His post-resurrection return to His heavenly Father's side. One reviewer of this book said, "I love this book! It is simple without being condescending, profound without being preachy, and both biblical and practical." Another wrote, "First, what a great little book for families! You have done an amazing job, not only with this one on Luke, but also the one from Proverbs." The New Testament account by Luke on the life of Christ is essential to the spiritual development of our families. "Good News for the Family -100 Devotionals from the Gospel of Luke" can help walk you through it in a family-friendly way.
