Overview

Middle school fiction, endorsed by Nancy Rue, award-winning author of youth and adult fiction: "Just when I thought the best fantasy-mystery-adventure books had already been written, I found Gavin Goodfellow. NOW you have the best! Not only is the story deliciously strange and can’t-put-it-down intriguing, but Gavin and the challenges he bumps into are as real as you are. And at the center of it all, you’ve got God—like you’ve never experienced God before. So follow Gavin into Burnt Swamp and be prepared for the journey of your life!" What do twelve-year-old dyslexic Gavin Goodfellow, strange old prophetically-inclined Uncle Warney, newly relocated mother-daughter witches from London, and a pimply-faced New Age guru have in common? Burnt Swamp—where flames from a mysterious underground fire have been smoldering for ten years. The battle is on for dominion of the swamp and possession of an ancient diary that holds clues to either release or destroy the evil that dwells beneath the surface. Will Gavin respond to the Holy Spirit and embrace his God-given calling? Or will Bea Daark and her mother unleash forces that lure Gavin and the sleepy town of Ashboro into bondage?

About the author

Founder and director of Delmarva Christian Writers’ Fellowship, author, publisher, inspirational speaker, and grandmom, Candy Abbott sees herself as a “fruitbearer.” Writing is a labor of love and evidence of her life’s goal to exhibit the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) in all she does. She began writing in 1983, around the same time she co-founded Sisters in Christ, an interdenominational women’s ministry. Candy directs the annual Fruitbearer Women’s Conference, is a charter member of Southern Delaware Toastmasters, an elder and deacon with Georgetown Presbyterian Church, and executive director of Mothers With a Mission. She and her husband, Drew, have owned and operated Fruitbearer Publishing LLC since 1999. They have three children and four grandchildren, all in close proximity to their home in Georgetown, Delaware.
