About The Author

Angelina Dumarot's remarkable journey from the streets of Soyapango to the "halls of power" in Los Angeles embodies the values of hard work, tenacity, and unyielding drive. As a Salvadoran immigrant and the first in her family to graduate from college, Angelina overcame incredible odds to become a distinguished director of communications, public relations strategist, and print reporter. At the age of seven, Angelina was reunited with her mother, who had courageously fled their war-torn homeland when Angelina was just a year old, leaving her in the care of her grandparents. Growing up in Los Angeles, Angelina juggled helping her mother clean houses with her academic pursuits. Her dedication led Angelina to earn a degree in journalism from California State University, Northridge. With more than 20 years of experience in government affairs, public relations, and journalism, she has built a successful career, including roles as a former staff writer for the Ventura County Star, the Orange County Register, and the Los Angeles Daily News. For the past decade, Angelina has devoted her career to public service, passionately advocating for policies that uplift vulnerable communities. She has worked on programs that promote livable wages, enhance worker protections, expand healthcare access, and support groundbreaking initiatives for working families. Angelina lives in Texas with her husband James, their daughter Alondra Rose, their chocolate Labrador retriever Kylo, and Frank– the inspiration behind her debut children's book Franky(sito)'s World.
