Description
A father and son’s planned camping trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia, takes a surprising turn as they encounter several unexpected events. First they are stalked by an unseen presence on their hike in the woods; then a lost set of keys suddenly reappears in a strange place; then a group of men who appear to be involved in a recreational paint ball gun exercise, turn out to be something much more sinister. This is a story of relationship enhancement and high adventure as the son proves to be more resourceful than could have been expected. With the assistance of another teenager, who is a local character working around the camp site, he manages to turn the dire situation into a great victory over the forces of evil.
About the author
Fireworks was conceived as a joint writing project by father and son, who had spent many hours reading and telling stories from the son’s infancy into adolescence. It was researched by going to the area where the story takes place for a long weekend camping trip. The plot was discussed before, during and after the trip, adding details and plot twists until the writing was completed. The primary author, the dad, is a lawyer in Elkton, Maryland, and the family lives in nearby Newark, Delaware.
