Description

REAL LESSONS. HARD EARNED. BUILT TO LAST. "Field Tested" isn't a book about construction. It's a book about building something that lasts. Through decades of wins, failures, acquisitions, financial challenges, and leadership transitions, Scott Peper and Herb Sargent share the conversations every business owner wishes they could have with someone who's already been there. Together, they explore what it takes to build a company that grows with purpose, develops strong leaders, protects profitability, and stands the test of time. Drawing from real stories and hard-earned experience, "Field Tested" offers practical lessons on leadership, decision making, financial discipline, culture, hiring, negotiation, and sustainable growth. Every chapter pairs candid conversations with actionable takeaways that can be applied immediately—whether you're running a construction company, leading a growing business, or preparing the next generation to take the reins. This isn't theory, and it isn't a collection of motivational stories. It's a field guide built from decades of experience in one of America's most demanding industries. Some lessons are learned in the classroom. The most valuable ones are "Field Tested."

About The Author

Scott Peper is the co-founder and CEO of Mobilization Funding, where he's spent over a decade helping commercial construction contractors and manufacturers solve the cash flow problem that sinks more small businesses than almost anything else. The idea started close to home: his father ran a construction business for decades and once lost a job he couldn't afford to start, because the bank wouldn't lend against work that hadn't begun. That gap became Scott's mission. He's the author of "The Big Book of Cash Flow" and host of "The Mobilization Mindset" podcast, where he talks with builders and business owners about growth, capital, and running a company that lasts. Scott lives in Tampa, Florida with his wife and their three daughters.
