Along with their cat Hazel, they enter the craft. It takes off and they travel to Feline Planet, the home of highly intelligent cats. Nora and Jake's spaceship is damaged on impact. They meet a feline science fiction writer, Cosmic, who tells them only the brilliant Professor Zenith can repair their spacecraft, but he's a recluse, whose whereabouts is unknown. The twins are mysteriously sent a series of riddles which will lead them to Zenith. Cosmic is the twins' guide as they travel through Feline Planet, and other fascinating felines join them on their journey. Nora and Jake come to love Feline Planet, but they desperately want to be safe on Earth when their mother returns from the Amazon. Description

Feline Planets is an illustrated, early middle grade, science fiction novel, with approximately 132 pages and a word count of 30,000. Nora, the story's narrator, and Jake are 9-year old twins. Rivals though they are, they share a deep affection for their wildlife-photographer mother and outer space. When their mother must go to the Amazon, the twins go to stay with their retired space scientist great-aunt Eve in her California mountain home. Bold and curious, Nora defies Eve's only rule for the twins and wanders into the forest. Jake, holding their cat Hazel, calls for her to come back. Hazel jumps from Jake's arms and runs deeper into the woods. It's their that they find Eve's secret spaceship. They enter the craft and Jake presses a green button. The spaceship takes off! Traveling faster than the speed of light, they land on Feline Planet, the home of highly intelligent cats! Nora, Jake and Hazel meet Cosmic, a science fiction writer. He states that he has made contact with Eve, who built her spaceship to visit Feline Plane. He also tells the twins that only Professor Zenith can repair their spaceship, which was damaged on impact. Unfortunately, Zenith is a recluse who hasn't been seen in years. Cosmic takes them to his home where, through his computer, they are told that solving a series of riddles will lead them to Zenith. Following the riddles with Cosmic as their guide, the twins journey through fantastic Feline Planet. More cats join them to help in their quest. Nora and Jake fall in love with this new world, but the clock is ticking. They want to be safe on Earth when their mother returns from the Amazon and hears of their dangerous journey. However, the twins' rivalry, their wandering cat Hazel, the eccentric Cosmic, and the riddles themselves challenge them at every turn. Will Nora and Jake ever find Zenith, and who is writing the riddles and why? Feline Planet will appeal to children who love science fiction/fantasy, adventure, felines, and two relatable kids, who learn the value of empathy and compassion for each other.
