About The Author

Mary Jon Porter Hadley has been teaching in an elementary school since 2007. She homeschooled her two sons for much of their school experience, which gave her the courage and motivation to get a master's degree in elementary education from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. She wanted to make learning fun and engaging, so when she was 42 years old, she became an elementary school teacher. She continued her education at Trevecca and earned another master's degree in educational leadership. Not long after that she earned her certificate as an education specialist in curriculum, instruction and professional development from Walden University Online. Throughout all her years of teaching experience, Mary Jon heard from hundreds of parents. They told her they did not know how to help their child in reading, because they did not know the questions to ask, or how to work with them when practicing reading at home. So, she created this interactive chapter book, the first in a series, with resources in the back that parents can use to help their child improve reading comprehension and writing as well. Mary Jon hopes her books will help children become better readers, writers and thinkers long after she leaves the classroom.
