Overview

After becoming the victim of heinous crime, young Tori is rescued by the police from a poultry processing plant half a continent away. Shonelle, the high school teacher sent to her foster home, is sympathetic to Tori’s plight and enlists her police officer husband’s help in solving the mystery that led Tori to them. Tori's group of supporters quickly grows as efforts are multiplied to find out what would cause such a bizarre situation. Why did her parents, the sheriff and the local church minister do nothing to help her? What kind of person would send a pregnant twelve-year-old away to fend for herself? What dark secrets does a little town hold? Warning: There is definitely no question about who did it, but there are a lot more very disturbing questions lurking close by. This is no ordinary novel and subjects are discussed within it that you won't feel comfortable reading.

Description

One September Friday evening in Cachet Junction, football coach Bob White hosts the players for a team spirit-building session. Only players are invited, but they can each bring a girlfriend. Things get out of hand when three players under the influence of alcohol sexually assault a twelve year-old girl, Tori. However, the normal reactions readers would expect in this type of situation do not occur. In fact, quite the opposite happens. The sheriff is summoned by Tori’s mother Diana Gibbons, but seems disinclined to act. Only after Diana pushes hard enough does Sheriff Porter call the coach, who also happens to be the minister of the largest church in Cachet Junction. Bob White also has a strange reaction. Instead of helping Tori, he too seems disinclined to act and, over the course of the evening, a mysterious plan is devised to which both Tori’s parents agree. Desmond Carter, an immigration enforcement officer with the Tampa police, discovers Tori and enlists the help of his family and friends to resolve what happened, leading to a surprising ending. Warning: this is no ordinary mystery novel and reading it may provoke thoughts that disturb your inner peace.
