Description
Executive Leadership stands as an example of motivating teams and getting the best out of others and oneself. It also explores intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and professional trust. A 90-minute read, this book is a call to leadership and its application. Editorial reviews: "Executive Leadership distills hard-earned lessons from Miles Garrett's military experience into practical, no-nonsense leadership insights. With a focus on morale, clear communication, and fostering excellence, Garrett provides a roadmap for leaders to inspire and empower their teams. This concise and compelling guide is essential reading for anyone looking to elevate their leadership skills and drive meaningful results." --Dr. Marshall Goldsmith. Dr. Goldsmith is the Thinkers50 #1 Executive Coach and New York Times bestselling author of The Earned Life, Triggers, and What Got You Here Won't Get You There. "The broad topic of leadership—in the military, athletics, business, or in life in general—has been the subject of many speeches, books, and articles, but few accomplish the goal of conceptualizing this valuable commodity any better or more succinctly than former US Navy submarine officer Miles Garrett in Executive Leadership: A Warfighter's Perspective. The basis of the work is a series of talks he prepared and delivered to fellow leaders while he served as Executive Officer on the nuclear submarine USS Cheyenne. His style is direct, understandable, and well-illustrated with examples and quotes from other proven leaders of men and women. Though heavy on suggestions for military personnel, Garrett's ideas and philosophy apply just as well to anyone who is called upon to lead. And he presents them in a readable, understandable, and to-the-point way that makes his work a good addition to anyone's library, but not simply to rest there spine out. No, Garrett's tenets can and should be applied in daily life." --Don Keith, award-winning and best-selling author of more than thirty-five books, including Firing Point, which was the basis for the hit motion picture Hunter Killer, starring Gerard Butler and Gary Oldman. Among other topics, Don has written extensively about World War II history. He sponsors the Untold Millions Project, an effort to encourage the capture and publication of eyewitness accounts of major historical events such as the Great Depression, World War II and other wars, the space program, the Civil Rights struggle, and more.
