In 1982 I opened my own law practice right out of school. "Evolutions of a Law Practice" is the story of what I did, and the various business and personal evolutions that followed. We will discuss marketing strategy and how I built a practice from the ground up. You'll see everything that worked, everything that didn't work, and how I kept moving forward despite facing serious challenges. Pro-actively or re-actively, everyone will have a career path. I hope my story will encourage people to consider entrepreneurial possibilities, evaluate their career plans, and pursue viable career options.
About the author
Barry Seidel opened his own practice right out of law school in 1982. He is a New York native who graduated from the University of Texas Law School and then hung out his shingle for a solo practice in New York City, where he continues to practice. He has successfully evolved through several areas of legal practice, including Landlord-Tenant, real estate, personal injury law, and a per-diem court coverage business, which is a lawyer to lawyer service. He currently practices in the areas of probate and estate administration, and writes, speaks and teaches about starting and building a law practice. He is widely followed on social media, where he regularly posts articles and tips about lawyer entrepreneurship, business development, marketing, and the intersection of law practice and life. He also writes, speaks and consults with lawyers and law students about career options, particularly in light of the pandemic and related Covid-19 challenges. He has adjusted and evolved his own law practice to suit the current reality for practicing attorneys and recent law school graduates.
