Since completing Hybris, the author and his wife moved to Northern Nevada before finally settling in Southern California. However, in the past fourteen years, and while writing Hybris, they lived in the Sonoma Wine Country, the San Diego area, the Florida Gator Country and back again to Reno, all of which have added exposure and experiences to write Eviction Notice: New World Order. Don, his wife and family all grew up in Tahoe. Water activities, snow skiing and never paying attention to snow storms or the weather were just a part of Lake life in Tahoe. Storms did not keep them from traveling into the mountains if a trip to Tahoe was on the schedule. Watching the clouds and storms roll across the Lake and the Sierra were always a unique experience for them. In its own way, living in the Sonoma Wine Country equaled the Tahoe experiences. Rolling, oak-covered hills and vineyard vistas as convection fog boiled up from the Russian River to shroud the vineyards in a cloak of mystery created views just as spectacular as watching the storms roll across Tahoe. Sitting high on a hill, observing the Pacific fog probe its way inland through the valleys was as unique as watching the thunderheads over the Lake on a summer’s day. The concept of having to evacuate a large population came to Don as he and his wife were forced to evacuate their home in Southern California due to raging wild fires that displaced over 250,000 people. Although not caught in a traffic jam, Don had friends who moved only one block in six hours. At that time the thought crossed his mind, “what would happen if over 500 million people had to evacuate? And what about the people in hospitals, the military, zoo animals, those in jails and prisons, people in retirement homes, etc? Who would address these issues, or would it be every man for himself?” Thus, the evacuation of 250,000 people became the springboard for Eviction Notice: New World Order. The reader will notice that Don mentions different land forms and aspects of science in his books. Having a degree in Science, Geography/Geology as well as attempting to earn a degree in Naturopathic Medicine, Don infuses these subject matters into his stories. Having retired, Don and his wife live in a 55+ community; he has also now ventured into a new genre with a book entitled, Murder: What Difference at This Point Does It Make? Ah … life experiences … what would we do without them?
