Overview
Volume 1. Vampires aren’t real, and if they were, they sure as hell wouldn’t live in San Diego…Right? Winter Ashton is content to let her life slip past in a veil of coffee vapors and cigarette smoke, as she tries to pick up the pieces after a nasty break-up left her with a broken spirit and a shattered sense of self worth. But when she answers a desperate call from her long lost friend Jenna, Winter is forced into the unlikely role of protector. Faced with the task of sheltering two vampires, Winter enlists the help of her metal-head landlord, and the quiet Goth girl next door, both of whom harbor dark secrets of their own. As Winter’s caught between her fierce loyalty for her friend and the reality of the danger that this new world has brought, she must also contend with the power hungry vampire who wants nothing more than to reclaim Jenna’s strange savior Malachi. In a twisted story of love, treachery, midnight lattes, and the undead, Winter will have to find the strength to stand beside the ones she loves before they are lost forever.

About the author
Jamie sprang forth from her father's brow much like Athena from Zeus. And by "father's brow" I mean "mother's womb in 1977". It all went downhill from there. She rolled around the country for many years, much like a lone dust bunny collecting lint beyond the vacuum's reach under the bed. Finally settling in the northern reaches of San Diego County she gathered an army of reprobates to do her bidding and with them she will run Bartertown when the prophecy is fulfilled. She raised from youth a cat that is proof that evil never dies, and it also does not like having its tummy scratched. This cat, Morgoth, lords over two other cats, Lilith & Shopcat, and any keyboards currently in use. Jamie is also the keeper of her husband, Morgoth (no relation), who on no account should be fed garlic hummus after midnight.
