Amy L. Gilliland, Ph.D., BDT(DTD), AdvCD(DONA), CSES (AASECT) is a Research Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an adult sexuality educator supervisor, an infant mental health expert with specialized training in attachment, and a birth doula trainer for over 25 years. Dr. Gilliland is approved by the State of California Board of Nursing and the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists as a continuing education provider. Dr. Gilliland's research has been published in JOGNN, Midwifery, Journal of Perinatal Education, Sexuality and Culture, and the Wisconsin Medical Journal. She is considered to be a thought leader and visionary on birth issues through her numerous conference appearances, influential blog and birth doula training and certification organization, Doulaing The Doula. She is the author of The Heart of the Doula: Essentials for Practice and Life, as well as chapters in numerous anthologies.
