Earthquake

By J. Lambert St. Rose

Overview

Earthquake is a tablet novel. It is a mix of satire and allegories to awaken readers to the reality of two Hakeldama(s) taking shape in the region. Also the growing number of Pilates mingling the blood of innocents with their pagan sacrifices, intended for power and wealth. Finally, the towers of Siloam crumbling on the guilty and innocent alike. The Day of Retribution has come. Each chapter is a tableau narrating the acts of the ongoing underground occult drama characterizing the deep-seated duplicity and syncretism existing in our Caribbean societies and churches without any qualms of conscience.

Description

"Earthquake" is a catalogue of the author's personal encounters and experiences in the ministry of exorcisms and deliverance. It is not a manual or a ritual of either one or the other. Therefore, it does not contain prayer nor does it elaborate on the actual rites during the various cases mentioned in the body of this work. More or less, "Earthquake" is an exposition of the Adam syndrome still innate in humankind despite humankind's coming of age and being at the peak of its intellectual, technological and industrial revolutions. In spite of the fact that humankind have come of age, that both God and natural law have bestowed on it an inborn divine authority, power and dominion over God's creation, the notion that "You are gods") Ps. 82:6, Jn.10:34) still evades practicing Christians, intellectuals, and more so, the common folk, who search for power and revelance outside themselves from the dark realm.

About The Author

Fr. J. Lambert St. Rose, by birth a Saint Lucian and at heart a Caribbean citizen, is a passionate cultural protagonist and an avid proponent of inculturation. He holds firmly to the conviction that the bedrock foundation for an authentic Caribbean theology, catechetical curriculum, evangelization plan, and ultimately a Caribbean Church must begin with the people—their culture, traditions, wisdom sayings, music, and popular religious practices. Despite the darkness portrayed in Earthquake, God remains present among them. Fr. St. Rose's heart and soul are gifts to his people. He is truly a people's person. Their deliverance, redemption, freedom, and salvation are the central occupations of his life. He thirsts for their conversion, spiritual development, and transformation, envisioning their ultimate transubstantiation into Christ, who humbled Himself to share in our humanity so that we might share in His divinity. A Catholic priest for over forty-three years—with no regrets—Fr. St. Rose offers Earthquake, the sequel to In Turbulent Waters, as a partial summation of his decades of pastoral ministry. He holds a Master's degree in Theological Studies from St. Norbert College and the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. He is also a poet and novelist. His published works include two anthologies—Helen and Her Sister Haiti (2011) and Our Father: Prayer and Praxis (2016)—as well as In Turbulent Waters (2014). With much humility, he presents some alarming realities that threaten to become tomorrow's popular spiritual devotions—manifest in the bloody human sacrifices now taking place in the open forums of our streets.
