Description

Dying to Live is a book about survival, encouragement and overcoming personal issues of life. It is designed to help people come through tough times by calling on the power of Jesus, and points the reader unashamedly to Christ’s mending and healing powers in any possible situation. It is a straight up, no nonsense book for someone who is having a hard time. This book has been referred to as a spiritual toolbox or a repair manual, helping to repair the hearts and spirits of broken and struggling people. Because of the author’s experience of prison and subsequently prison ministry, this book is invaluable in equipping Christian volunteers who visit prisons, giving them a window into the thinking, the frustrations, and the fears of men and women who are incarcerated. However, prisons can become places of hope and light for those willing to change. Read and use this spiritual toolbox as a source of inspiration to overcome that problem that besets you. Read it also to further equip you if your calling is in prison ministry.

About The Author

Ken Gartner is a New Zealand Maori, gospel singer, itinerant speaker and author. He has been a volunteer supporting the incarcerated in prisons around Aotearoa (New Zealand) since 1993. He speaks authoritatively on the unpleasant reality of prison life as he ministers in many churches around New Zealand, having spoken in 247 churches in the last 6 years. Ken was a teacher for much of his working life, until his career was terminated in 1983 after he served a short term of imprisonment. Upon his release and recovery from the trauma of imprisonment, he enrolled at Victoria University where he gained BA, BA (Hon), and MA degrees in Maori Studies. He had also enrolled for a doctorate degree. In 1992 he gave his heart to Jesus and has been a dogged follower ever since. He is a member of Prison Fellowship NZ and takes services on a regular basis in both men and women’s prisons, fulfilling a covenant he made with Jesus to tell prisoners everywhere about His love. In addition to Ken’s current missionary calling, he is now venturing into visiting rest homes to minister to and encourage senior citizens. His passion is to see as many people as possible come to know Jesus. He is married to Ann, and they both belong to Wellington Elim International Church.
