Driven To Connect

The Blueprint for Success in Real Estate & Any Relationship-Driven Career

By Kate Rossi and Courtney Rossi Martin

Overview

Two generations. One Empire. Zero excuses. What does it actually take to build a legacy from scratch? For Kate Rossi, it began with a young daughter, a stack of bills, and no safety net. It meant mastering the relentless pressures of real estate sales, making the calls others avoided, and building a career that would ultimately earn Hall of Fame recognition. For her daughter, Courtney Rossi Martin, it meant witnessing the ambition, the sacrifices, and the women behind the success—then putting those same principles to work in her own career. "Driven to Connect" is a candid, dual-perspective guide that brings together personal memoir, motivation, and actionable sales strategies. Part deeply personal story, part tactical masterclass, it reveals how to turn conversations into appointments, relationships into business, and daily discipline into lasting success in real estate or any relationship-driven sales career. Through Kate's hard-earned guidance and Courtney's practical implementation, readers discover what to do, how to put it into practice, and what it takes to keep going when the work gets hard. Behind every achievement is a choice, a sacrifice, and a reason to continue. This is the blueprint—and the story behind it.

Description

Before Kate Rossi built a Hall of Fame career in real estate, she was a single mother trying to create a life that could support them both. There was no safety net, no waiting list of clients, and no guarantee that hard work would be enough. She had to learn how to create opportunities and how to keep creating them when rejection, pressure, and uncertainty threatened everything she was working toward. What followed was more than four decades in real estate sales and leadership, built on a discipline she never abandoned: make the contacts, create the appointments, earn the trust, and do the work. Her daughter, Courtney Rossi Martin, saw what the professional world could not. The late nights. The moves. The moments when ambition demanded something from both of them. She also saw the determination, humor, and fierce love behind every decision. Years later, Courtney used those same principles to build her own successful real estate business. In "Driven to Connect: The Blueprint for Success in Real Estate & Any Relationship-Driven Sales Career," this mother-daughter duo brings those experiences together in a candid guide to building a business and understanding what it takes to sustain it. Part personal memoir, part tactical sales masterclass, this book connects motivation to implementation. Kate explains the strategies behind her success. Courtney shows readers how to put them to work. Together, they give readers a practical framework for moving from good intentions to consistent action. Across 23 chapters, readers learn how to turn contacts into appointments, approach the conversations other agents avoid, prepare to win listings, and build a business around purposeful daily activity. Kate and Courtney address pricing, property marketing, buyer qualification, negotiation, and the work of holding a transaction together through problems and uncertainty. They also show how to build beyond the next commission: maintain meaningful client relationships, create a dependable follow-up system, earn referrals, grow from agent to business owner, and establish a reputation that carries value long after closing. This is a sales book readers can return to as they prepare for an appointment, confront a difficult conversation, rebuild momentum, or take the next step in their career. But the blueprint comes with an honest account of its cost. Through two perspectives, readers see the emotional weight of building something from the ground up, the rejection, the responsibility, the competing demands of work and family, and the choices behind accomplishments that can look effortless from the outside. They also see the pride, connection, and possibility that make the effort worthwhile. Written for aspiring and experienced real estate agents, sales professionals, entrepreneurs, and leaders, "Driven to Connect" offers both practical sales strategies and the motivation to implement them. Grounded in real estate, its principles apply to any relationship-driven sales career where communication, persistence, integrity, and trust determine long-term success. Kate and Courtney share their story and ask a question that reaches beyond business: What matters enough to you that you are willing to keep showing up for it? Find your why. Make the contact. Build something that lasts.

About The Author

Kate Rossi began her real estate career as a young single mother determined to build a better life, and went on to spend more than four decades rising from agent to manager, regional leader, and executive. As regional executive vice president of Coldwell Banker Realty’s Eastern Region, she oversaw more than 22,000 agents across fifteen states and the District of Columbia. She later served as president of agent engagement and sales leadership development for Anywhere Brands and Anywhere Advisors. Her honors include Long Island Business News’ Top 50 Women in Business, Profiles in Diversity Journal’s Women Worth Watching, and induction into the RIS Media Real Estate Newsmakers Hall of Fame. Now retired, she splits her time between Sarasota, Florida, and Ridgefield, Connecticut, near her daughter and grandchildren.

Courtney Rossi Martin grew up watching her mother build a career from the ground up. She started in the title industry in Colorado, moved into mortgage sales, and, after taking time away to raise her three children, became a licensed agent in Connecticut. Over thirteen years she built one of the top-producing teams in her market, earning President’s Club and Diamond Club honors. Discovering that her real passion was helping others succeed, she now coaches real estate professionals, salespeople, and business owners to build the systems, confidence, and businesses that support the lives they want. She lives in Connecticut with her husband and their three children.
