Overview
Lexie's family had just moved from a small town in Georgia to a suburb in Columbus, Ohio. All Lexie wants is to have the same types of relationships she had in her small town. She is caught between her parents expectations and her own needs. Navigating the suburban teen social scene turns out not to be easy. She feels that she has to completely change in order to fit in. She makes some mistakes and ends up as the brunt of some nasty rumors. Her mom is concerned about the welfare of Lexie's two younger sisters. Her dad is just starting as a professor at the law school at The Ohio State University, and he is still recovering from a back injury. They depend on Lexie to be mature, help out when required, and not need a lot of support. Lexie tries to start again with a new group of friends. Her trusting nature causes her to accept a drink at a party and she ends up in the hospital. This brings even more disapproval, distrust, and conflict with her mother and bullying from former friends. Lexie's stress increases as she tries to adapt to everyone's expectations. She reaches into her parents medicine cabinet and starts taking Xanax. This starts her downward spiral into other experimentation. When she feels all her friends have abandoned her, she runs away, only to find herself in danger. Her friends and her father come together to find her. Hopefully, they will be in time.
