About the author
Edward Layt ( Ed to his friends) was born in Brisbane, Australia in 1956, and has lived on the south side of the city all his life. He grew up surrounded by a multitude of family pets, and family who encouraged his love of things biological, just like many of his colleagues. Ed went to veterinary school at the University of Queensland in the 1970’s, and it was there that he developed his curious habit of recording the multitude of funny, sad and unexpected things that happen in daily veterinary life, a habit which, after 35 years, has led to the publication of this book.
Starting work in 1979, Ed has seen the highs and lows of veterinary practice in Australia, and has been part of the rich history of its evolution in the latter part of the last century and to the present. He hopes that this book will be seen by readers as a small record of that evolution, as well as a light hearted view of the inside workings and thought processes of those in a veterinary practice, as seen from his perspective.
Ed is married to Eileen and has four adult children, all of whom are the inspiration for putting this book to print.
