Discovery

Discovery is a book of 40 poems that showcases the life of an 18-year-old girl and her experiences. It covers topics of violence, injustice, hope, love, and wisdom. The poems are divided into five categories, depicting the journey towards self-discovery and all the bumps and hardships that occur along the way.

My name is Natalie Oganesyan, and I'm an 18-year-old living in Southern California. I'm a senior in high school, and it's always been my dream to publish a book of my poems. Writing has always been very dear to me from a young age, but poetry is what captivates me the most. I hope that with this book I'm able to connect with people and let them know that there is someone out there who understands what they're going through. This book is a loosely-based autobiography. It has influences of my Armenian heritage, my identity as a woman growing up in the politically polarized United States, my love for figure skating, and my family life and travel experiences. I hope that this book allows people to really see me and to really feel what I felt when writing these poems. Most of all, I hope that people enjoy following me on my journey to self-discovery.
